Atlantic View reaches maximum occupancy: A milestone achievement for Enhance Healthcare

February 3, 2025

Enhance Healthcare is proud to announce that Atlantic View, one of the newest additions to the Enhance family, has officially reached maximum occupancy, with 50 residents now calling the luxury care setting home.

Situated in the charming seaside town of Ayr, overlooking the stunning Firth of Clyde, Atlantic View offers a standard of living akin to a five-star hotel. The purpose-built home, completed in 2024, spans four floors, featuring 50 private en-suite bedrooms, each thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and tranquillity. Residents enjoy a wealth of top-tier facilities, including a fully equipped gym, cinema, games room, and a welcoming central café where residents, family members, and friends can relax together. Spacious living and dining areas further add to the home’s sense of community, while beautifully landscaped gardens create a serene outdoor retreat.

Since opening its doors in March 2024, Atlantic View has quickly built an outstanding reputation for delivering exceptional care, earning the trust of residents, families, and the wider community. This commitment to excellence was further validated during its inaugural Care Inspectorate visit, where the home achieved an unprecedented five Grade 5 ratings across key categories, including Wellbeing, Leadership, and Care Planning. Inspectors commended the home for its clean, comfortable environment and the team’s focus on person-centred care, with one comment highlighting:

“Staff know everyone and take their time with you; they always ask you and give you a choice.”

Atlantic View has also received high praise from visiting local council officials, who have observed the exceptional care firsthand:

“The hospitality offered and interaction with all staff members was excellent. My review visit was a pleasure—this is reflective of a great team.”

The sense of community at Atlantic View extends beyond residents, with staff sharing how much they enjoy working there:

“I love working here! You get to be part of a really great team of people who are all working hard for each other to make this a great place to live and work.”

“We’re all so well supported by staff and management—it doesn’t really feel like coming to work!”

Under the guidance of experienced manager Michelle Sommerville, Atlantic View has assembled a team of highly trained and dedicated professionals who place residents at the heart of everything they do. Their commitment to creating a welcoming and nurturing environment has fostered strong community ties and an exceptional quality of life for residents.

Residents themselves have spoken about the positive impact of life at Atlantic View:

“It’s the best home I’ve been in by far, and I have been in three prior to here.”

“Everyone is so friendly and happy, and they look after us so well—it’s like being at home!”

“The chef knows I love Cotswold bread and used to make it at home, so they bought a bread maker and make it for me fresh here too!”

Michelle Sommerville, Care Home Manager, shared her thoughts on this milestone:

“I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished as a team. To reach maximum occupancy in less than a year is a testament to the exceptional care we provide and the welcoming community we’ve built here at Atlantic View. Every resident is part of our family, and it’s an honour to call this place home for them.”

As Atlantic View celebrates this milestone, Enhance Healthcare continues to set a benchmark for quality care. With its outstanding facilities, dedicated team, and unwavering focus on resident wellbeing, the home embodies Enhance Healthcare’s mission to provide safe, comfortable, and enriching environments for all.

The staff at Clyde Valley Care Home were "over the moon" to hear about their nomination for this year’s Specialist Service/Unit of the Year award at the Scottish Care Awards. Situated in the stunning Monteith House in Lanarkshire, they have been invited to attend the glitzy awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on 15th November, where they will find out if they have won this prestigious award. This 33-bed care service specialises in supporting young adults with severe mental health diagnoses and/or learning difficulties in the heart of Scotland. Nestled within over 70 acres of mature woodland and fields, Clyde Valley Care Home resides in a beautifully retrofitted 200-year-old mansion designed to meet the needs of both residents and staff. Staff expressed their gratitude for the nomination, stating: "We’re really thankful for the recognition for the work we do. It’s our job, and we love it." It was this dedication that was highlighted by their nominee, who noted that "the respect, dignity, compassion, kindness, and understanding provided by our team is ‘above and beyond’ all expectations." Manager Billy Russell, who has been with the home for over 10 years, praised his amazing staff: "We’re delighted that all our hard work has been recognized. Our staff have been here for a long time, and to see them nominated for the incredible things they do every day is brilliant." The well-established team focuses on creating a warm, nurturing environment where residents can achieve their goals and maintain their independence: "It’s more like a family here with all the staff and residents. Many of our residents don’t have family, so we’re happy to step into that role. They have us, and we have them." When asked how the nomination came about, Billy credited his dedicated staff and the support from the directors at Enhance Healthcare: "They’ve been superb. They make a point of getting to know you and check in regularly to ensure you have everything you need." Clyde Valley was one of the first homes purchased by Enhance back in 2016, and it has gone from strength to strength since then. Operations Manager Ashleigh Walmsley had this to say: “Visiting Clyde Valley is always met with warmth by not only the staff but also the residents themselves who are more than happy to demonstrate and display their crafts or achievements; working alongside Home Manager Billy Russell through the years has been nothing short of a joy, so to see him, his team and all of their hard work recognised brings a huge amount of happiness not only to myself but our Enhance Healthcare peers.” On behalf of everyone at Enhance Healthcare, we want to express our deepest gratitude for the unwavering dedication and compassion you show in caring for our residents. Your hard work makes a meaningful difference in their lives, and we wish you all the luck in the world—you truly deserve it!
